Seven Enugu Catholic Seminarians Killed in Cross River Auto Crash

Enugu State is in mourning following the tragic deaths of seven seminarians from the Catholic Church in a devastating auto crash in Cross River State.

The victims, all members of the Capuchin Order under the Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Enugu, have been identified as Brother Somadina Ibe-Ojuludu, Brother Chinedu Nwachukwu, Brother Marcel Ezenwafor, Brother Gerald Nwogueze, Brother Kingsley Nwosu, Brother Wilfred Aleke, and Brother Chukwudi Obueze.

The accident occurred on Saturday in the Ikwette community, near the base of the Obudu Ranch Resort hill, as the seminarians were returning from a visit to the Obudu Cattle Ranch. Reports indicate they were accompanied by a priest during the trip.

The loss has sent shockwaves through Catholic communities across Southeast Nigeria, with families, friends, and fellow seminarians grappling with the immense grief.

The Enugu Catholic Diocese is expected to release an official statement, along with details of the accident and burial arrangements, in the coming days.
