The National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Julius Abure, paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, in Abuja on Sunday, a move that has triggered a flurry of reactions on social media, particularly on Facebook.
While the purpose of the meeting remains undisclosed, political observers are speculating about the significance of the visit, especially amid growing realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Photos from the meeting, which surfaced online, showed Abure and Wike engaged in warm conversation—fueling concerns among supporters of the Labour Party, particularly those aligned with the Obidient Movement led by former presidential candidate Peter Obi.
Several Nigerians took to Facebook to express skepticism and concern:
Talut Abubakar commented sarcastically, “Abure, I hope say food no fall from your mouth o, when you dey chop Wike food? We go soon hear score sha.”
Ogundeyi Samuel added, “We know una plans towards Nigerians in 2027, e no go work. There is no LP without Obidient movement/Peter Obi. Nigerians don move on from Wike and data body.”
Chinwe Ama remarked, “Now he has APC, PDP, and LP to himself. Nigerians will speak in 2027.”
Amen Walsrom speculated, “Hope no be Wike want send Abure to decamp to ADC to finish his assignments.”
Though neither party has issued a formal statement on the visit, the optics of Abure’s meeting with Wike—who has played roles in both PDP and APC circles—have raised eyebrows among Labour Party loyalists.
