Kano state govt extends lockdown by 1 more week as COVID-19 death toll rises to 32

The Kano State Government has extended the two-week total lockdown imposed on the state by President Buhari. The President on April 27 announced a two-week lockdown in the state as part of measures to curtail the spread of the ravaging Coronavirus in the state.

A statement released by the state Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, says the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has extended the lockdown by one more week to further curb the spread of Coronavirus.

The extension comes as the state recorded six more COVID-19 related deaths on Monday May 11, bringing the death toll to 32. 

With 666 confirmed cases, Kano state is currently the second state with the highest number of infected persons after Lagos which remains the epicenter of the pandemic in Nigeria with 1933 confirmed cases.
