Taron Johnson’s pick-six puts Bills ahead of Steelers

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Buffalo Bills cornerback Taron Johnson grabbed the second interception of his career during Sunday night’s game, returning it for a 51-yard touchdown to give the Bills their first lead of the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

On second-and-5 from the Steelers’ 47-yard line, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger attempted to hit wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster on an out route. Johnson jumped the route, however, snatching the pass from Smith-Schuster and winning a footrace to the end zone with less than a minute remaining in the first half.

Bills place-kicker Tyler Bass missed the extra point attempt, but Buffalo still took a 9-7 lead into halftime.

Johnson’s touchdown marked the Bills’ first defensive touchdown since Dec. 24, 2017, against the New England Patriots, according to ESPN Stats & Information.
