We Didn’t Entice 30,000 Surrendered Boko Haram Fighters With Any Incentive – Borno Governor

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has said the 12-year long Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria will end under the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
Zulum stated this on Thursday when he met with Buhari at the presidential villa, Abuja to apprise him of progress in the surrendering of Boko Haram terrorists.

The governor further briefed journalists after the meeting that over 30,000 former fighters had now surrendered and were in the custody of the authorities.
According to him, the terrorists had “come out to surrender to troops of their own will as the Borno State government did not offer any incentive to the fighters.”
He also noted that he discussed the continuing surrender of the insurgents and the case of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) with the president.
Zulum who stated that the security situation in Borno has improved considerably also suggested that political solutions be applied.
