Australia floods: Eight dead in ‘unprecedented’ weather emergency

Intense rain and record-breaking floods have hit eastern Australia, killing eight people.

A river in the northern New South Wales town of Lismore has broken its banks and risen to 14.37m (47ft). Meanwhile in Queensland, the Brisbane River is flooding, causing extensive damage.
