Gunmen have abduçted the mother of the All Progressive Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Jigawa Central senatorial district, Honourable Tijjani Ibrahim Gaya. Hajia Jaja, a septuagenarian, was abducted from her house in Kiyawa Local Government Area of Jigawa State on Monday night, June 20. Spokesperson of Jigawa State Police Command, DSP Lawal Shisu, who confirmed the incident, said the suspected kidnappers stormed the family house of the senatorial candidate and whisked the victim to unknown destination. According to the PPRO, after receiving the report of the abduction, the state commissioner of police mobilised a special police team for the rescue of the victim. He noted that to ensure the immediate arrest of the suspects and rescue of the victim the police are collaborating with other security agencies and the public for useful information. A source from Kiyawa told the newsmen that the gunmen numbering about 15 to 20 stormed the town in three vehicles.
