Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the 2023 Lagos gubernatorial candidate for the Labour Party (LP), has publicly expressed his intention to run again for the governorship position in 2027. Despite his loss in the previous election, Rhodes-Vivour, popularly known as GRV, has hinted at his continued interest in vying for the top political office in Lagos State.
He made this known during a recent interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Rhodes-Vivour expressed his unwavering commitment to serving Lagos State. “I will not give up on actualising my ambition to become Lagos State Governor,” he affirmed.
While he reiterated his readiness to return to the political arena, Rhodes-Vivour did not disclose whether he plans to run under the Labour Party or explore another political platform. His statement has sparked discussions about potential alignments and strategies for the next election cycle.
Rhodes-Vivour’s 2023 campaign garnered significant attention and support, particularly among younger voters, for its focus on progressive policies and reforms. Political analysts suggest that his 2027 bid could reshape the dynamics of the Lagos governorship race, depending on his choice of party and coalition-building efforts.
