The political crisis in Osun has escalated in recent days following attempts by the sacked APC council officials to reclaim their positions.
This move has sparked violent confrontations between rival political factions, leading to fatalities and heightened tensions in several local government areas.
Earlier reports had revealed that gunmen on Monday reportedly killed the recently reinstated Chairman of Irewole Local Government, Remi Abass, in Osun State.
Sources stated that the attack occurred on Monday when the deceased chairman arrived at the local government secretariat with his supporters.
They were attacked by armed men suspected to be thugs.
Previously, the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, had raised the alarm about an alleged plot by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, to instigate unrest in the state.
Adeleke had accused Oyetola of issuing illegal directives to security operatives in an attempt to enforce the unlawful return of sacked local government chairmen.
