Veteran Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Ugezu J. Ugezu, has openly criticized the Senate President for the continued suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, describing it as both unlawful and undemocratic.
Taking to social media, Ugezu condemned the Senate’s defiance of a court ruling which declared Natasha’s suspension illegal. He stressed that her mandate, just like that of the Senate President, was freely given by the Nigerian people through the ballot box and must be respected.
“The same way she got elected to represent her people is the same way you were elected to represent yours. Now you’ve suspended her, against the will of the people and the decision of the court,” Ugezu wrote.
He went further to remind the Senate leadership that no individual, regardless of position, has the authority to indefinitely suspend an elected representative — especially when a court of competent jurisdiction has already ruled in her favour.
