Jude Ezenwafor, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the upcoming Anambra State governorship election slated for November 8, 2025, has been shot by unidentified gunmen in Abuja.
The incident reportedly took place on the night of Friday, July 18, near the Wuse 2 area of the Federal Capital Territory. Ezenwafor was said to be on his way home from a private engagement when the attack occurred.
Sources confirmed that the politician sustained multiple gunshot wounds and is currently receiving medical attention at a private hospital in Abuja. His condition remains serious but stable, according to early reports.
Two other individuals who were with him at the time of the attack were also injured and are undergoing treatment.
At the time of filing this report, the motive for the attack remains unclear, and the identities of the attackers have not yet been established.
Authorities are expected to launch an investigation into the incident.
Ezenwafor, a prominent real estate developer based in Abuja, was recently announced as the PDP’s flagbearer for the highly anticipated Anambra gubernatorial race.
