Enugu state government capture COVID-19 patient who fled Delta isolation center

The Enugu State Government says it has arrested a COVID-19 patient who escaped from the Delta State Isolation and Treatment Centre and ran to Enugu.

The patient had tested positive in Delta and was in an isolation center but escaped and fled to Enugu state.

A statement from the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on Media, Louis Amoke, said following the development, the state COVID-19 taskforce began a search for the patient and have arrested him. He said contact tracing of all those the patient came in contact and decontamination of all the places the patient visited has commenced. 

The patient has been returned to the Delta state government.

The statement adds that the total number of cases ever detected in Enugu State remains 8, with 6 active cases receiving treatment.
