Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has emerged the consensus candidate of the Oshiomole-led faction of the APC in Edo state to contest for the party’s governorship ticket.
Ize-Iyamu was named the consensus candidate in Abuja on Tuesday by the committee set up by the Oshiomole-led faction to screen about eight aspirants in the group.
Ize-Iyamu will be contesting for the party’s governorship ticket with the incumbent governor, Godwin Obaseki, who has been at loggerheads with Oshiomole. The direct primary has been scheduled for June 22.
Ize-Iyamu was the PDP governorship candidate in the last governorship election and defected to APC in November last year.
The state governorship election is scheduled to hold on September 19, 2020.
