Dolphins offensive coordinator Gailey resigns

Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator Chan Gailey has resigned, the team announced Wednesday.

“I want to thank Chan for all of his hard work and dedication in what was a unique year,” head coach Brian Flores said in a statement. “He played an important role on the staff and in the development of our young roster. I wish him all the best.”

Gailey was with the team for only one season. The Dolphins will have their third offensive coordinator in three seasons after firing Chad O’Shea in 2019.

The Dolphins finished 22nd in total offense, 20th in passing offense, 22nd in rushing offense and 15th in scoring this season.

The challenge for the next coordinator is building an offense around young quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. He went 6-3 as a starter but all five of his interceptions came in the final four games, including three in the season-ending loss to the Bills.

Gailey is the former head coach of the Bills and Cowboys.
