Thousands of asylum seekers cross US-Mexico border after year-long wait

Asylum seekers who have been waiting at the border for over a year while they pursued their cases have started entering the US this week.

After taking office in January, President Biden announced it would suspend enrolment in the Trump administration’s Migration Protection Protocols program, known as MPP, also known as the “remain in Mexico” program.
