Women from across Rivers State has took to the streets of Port Harcourt on Thursday in protest demanding the immediate reinstatement of suspended Governor Siminialayi Fubara.
In a video posted by Lagos Reporters, the women were seen chanting powerful slogans like “Pharaoh, let my people go!” and “Bring back Fubara!”, the demonstrators decried what they described as a creeping state of emergency and the erosion of democratic governance in the oil-rich state.
The women, dressed in traditional attire marched peacefully, holding placards and singing solidarity songs. Many of them expressed deep concern over what they called political interference and the destabilization of democratic structures in the state.
“This is not just about Fubara,” said one protester. “This is about protecting our votes and our voices. We are tired of the oppression. Democracy must be respected!”
The women’s march comes in the wake of ongoing political tensions in Rivers State, where Governor Fubara’s suspension has sparked widespread outrage and fears of a power grab.
As of press time, there has been no official response from the Presidency or the Rivers State government regarding the women’s demands.
