The Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba has commented on schools reopening amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

According to the Minister, there is no definite date on when schools will be reopening because they ought to work in tandem with President Buhari’s directive on the economy opening in phases. He added that the Ministry of Education wouldn’t want to put the children in harms way.

On children going to the next class, he stated that pupils and students will move to the next class when they are satisfied they’ve learnt enough and all that is in their syllables. He further revealed that they will continue preparing students in the exit class of JSS 3 and SS3 for their external exam.

The Minister also confirmed that WAEC has not been cancelled but postponed to a date which will be communicated later.
