Zamfara government imposes curfew in Kaura Namoda after death of Emir lindaikejisblog

A dusk to dawn curfew has been imposed in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State for a period of one week by the state government.

In a state broadcast on Monday after the confirmed cases of Coronavirus rose from one to 12 with one fatality in the state, Governor Bello Matawalle also ordered the closure of all places of worship and markets, excluding those selling foodstuffs and medicals.

Governor Matawalle said the curfew which came after the death of the Emir of Kaura Namoda, Mohammed Asha from suspected Coronavirus (COVID-19) complications on Monday May 3, became necessary to curb the spread of Coronavirus in the state as residents of the local government failed to adhere to the social distancing directive and other safety precautions in their daily socio-economic and religious activities.

The state government will be reviewing the effect of the curfew in the local government after one week.
