Nigerian soldiers in gun battle with Boko Haram at Borno military base

Men of the Nigerian Army stationed in Mainok, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State, are currently in a gunfight with some Boko Haram insurgents.

According to residents, the insurgents entered the village around 7pm, shooting sporadically, and made their way to the military base where shooting has been ongoing for hours as the insurgents fight with the troops.

The troops engaging the insurgents are from the army’s 29 battalion task force in Mainok. Sources said villagers are still scampering for safety.
