Doctor tests positive for Coronavirus in Bayelsa

An unnamed doctor has tested positive for Coronavirus in Bayelsa state.

Governor Duoye Diri made the announcement during a meeting with members of Bayelsa state COVID-19 Task Force. 

The doctor who works at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Yenagoa was admitted at a private hospital before testing positive for the virus. 

The health official’s travel history also showed that he entered the state after a trip to neighbouring Delta State. The private hospital he was admitted in has been shut down for decontamination.

Governor Duoye Diri said the new case brings the number of active cases in the state to two. Five other positive COVID-19 patients had been successfully treated and discharged.
