Source: Pirates-Cardinals series this week ppd.

The Pittsburgh Pirates‘ flight to St. Louis on Sunday was canceled and their series this week against the Cardinals has been postponed, a source told ESPN’s Buster Olney.

MLB announced on Sunday that Monday’s game between the two teams had been postponed. The two teams were also scheduled to play on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Cardinals haven’t played since July 29.

“Obviously we don’t want the whole series to get canceled,” Pittsburgh catcher Jacob Stallings said Sunday morning. “I think we’re grateful that we get a day off. It’s been obviously a tough stretch. Our pitching could use it. And you know, we’ve had a tough schedule to start the year, so grateful for the day off, but then also everybody doesn’t want three games canceled; we want to get those games in.”

The Cardinals’ three-game series against the Chicago Cubs this weekend was postponed after the league said two Cardinals players and one staff member tested positive for the coronavirus from samples collected over the past two days.

In total, nine Cardinals players and seven staffers have tested positive since last week.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
