NFL playoff picture: Washington claims final postseason berth with NFC East title

Several NFL playoff spots were still in play entering Week 17, though just one remains on Sunday night — the NFC East title, which can be won by either Washington or the Giants.

In the early window on Sunday, the Ravens, Browns and Titans all clinched playoff spots. The Cowboys were also eliminated by the Giants, and the Buccaneers locked themselves into the No. 5 spot in the NFC. The Bills will be the No. 2 seed in the AFC after their win, locking the Steelers into the third spot.

In the afternoon window, the Rams eliminated the Cardinals while clinching their own playoff spot, along with one for the Bears. The Packers secured the top seed in the NFC, too. And in the AFC, the Colts locked up a playoff berth. The Titans, however, won the AFC South on a last-second field goal.

We’re live tracking the playoff picture on Sunday, following the playoff races in both the AFC and NFC. We will update playoff chances and projections from ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) periodically throughout the 16-game slate, showing how the playoff landscape is changing as games are played. Clinching scenarios are provided for each team as well. Keep checking back all day long for the most up-to-date view of the playoff teams and seedings based on those FPI projections.
