Boxers and colleagues react to the death of former champion Leon Spinks

Former undisputed heavyweight champion Leon Spinks, 67, died Friday night after a long battle with prostate cancer and other illnesses.

Spinks finished his boxing career with a record of 26-17-3, including 14 KOs, and he is perhaps most remembered for defeating Muhammad Ali in 1978 to win the title.

After news of his death, friends, colleagues and current fighters took to social media to say their goodbyes and praise the former champ.

Spinks’ brother, Michael Spinks, is a former two-division champion and member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
