The NFL released its compensatory picks for the 2021 draft on Wednesday, with the Dallas Cowboys receiving the most with four.
The Atlanta Falcons and Green Bay Packers each received three compensatory picks. Two teams — the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Rams — received two third-round compensatory picks.
The compensation formula is based on free agents who departed teams prior to the 2020 season.
There were 36 compensatory picks awarded in all this year to 17 clubs. The Collective Bargaining Agreement limits the number of compensatory selections to the number of clubs in the league (32), but this year four picks were added for teams which had a minority employee hired by another club as its head coach or primary football executive (general manager). They received compensation in the form of a special draft selection in the third round of each of the next two drafts, or in each of the next three drafts if two minority employees from the employer-club were hired for these positions by another club or clubs.
