Bandits Kill Housewives, Set Houses Ablaze In Taraba

No less than fifteen persons were said to have lost their lives during an attack by bandits in Binnari and Jab Jab villages in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Those that died during the attack included three housewives.

It was learned that the villagers attempted to repel the attack by the bandits at about 4 am on Wednesday.
SaharaReporters gathered that the attack on the two villages was carried out to avenge the killing of some kidnappers by a vigilante in the area a few weeks ago.
Seven bandits were killed during the encounter. The bandits who survived the attack escaped with the corpses of their gang members, sources say.
During the attack on Jab Jab, the gunmen were said to have killed many people and set houses ablaze.
Residents, who spoke on condition of anonymity, lamented the absence of security operatives while the attack lasted.
“As l speak to you, there are no policemen or soldiers in Binnari but we are told that soldiers are on their way to the area,” a resident said.
He further revealed that the village head of Binnari and some local guards were killed by bandits early this year.
The state police spokesman, Usman Abdullahi, confirmed the attack, adding that some police officers had been deployed in the area.
“The police are now on the ground and are making effort to restore normalcy in the area. We have no casualty figure for now,” he said.
