A Court of Appeal in Owerri, the Imo State capital has nullified a high court judgement allowing the return of the bachelor’s degree certificate of a former governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu by the Abia State University.
The school had withdrawn Kalu’s certificate over allegations of fraud and breach of admission regulations concerning his graduation.
But on Tuesday, the appellate court upheld the withdrawal of the certificate by the university.
The presiding judge, Justice Oludotun Adefope-Okojie, nullified the judgement of a high court in Isikwuato, Abia State which had granted the return of the certificate to the former governor.
According to the Appeal Court, the state high court which had ruled on the matter, lacked jurisdiction over it.
