Gunmen Kill Nigerian Agency, FIRS Senior Staff In Lagos

A senior staff of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Ibironke Adefila, has been killed by gunmen in Lagos State.

Adefila was reportedly murdered by gunmen suspected to be assassins in the Ikorodu area of the state.



The deceased was said to have been trailed while on her way to work in the early hours of Friday, January 28, 2022.

A source said the assailants hacked and killed the victim opposite Awalu Group of Schools, Powerline Area in Laketu, Ikorodu. She passed away before she was rushed to a hospital.

The police said the deceased’s record at the hospital where she was taken to by some passersby showed that she was brought to the hospital already dead.

Spokesperson for the police in Lagos, Adekunle Ajisebutu, who confirmed the incident, said homicide detectives were currently on the trail of the killers.

He said, “The Commissioner of Police had ordered that the case be transferred to the homicide unit of the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba.”

Ajisebutu, however, assured the family of the deceased that the killers would be tracked and made to face the law.
