2023: Governor Fayemi Dodges Question On Presidential Ambition, Says God Will Decide

Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, on Monday declined to confirm his alleged ambition to run for the office of the president in the 2023.

Fayemi, who is Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, said he is still praying for his political future.

The governor spoke on Channels Television programme in Abuja.

When asked to confirm his suspected presidential ambition, the governor said, “That is a good try but you won’t get me on that. You promised that you were going to talk to me about judicial autonomy; that is what I am prepared to talk about.

“2023 will deal with itself; it is in the realm of the future and God will decide what He has in stock for every one of us.”

When the anchor insisted on the question, Fayemi asked him to focus on the judicial and legislative autonomy at the state level.

He added, “I am still the Governor of Ekiti State. I am trying to do that job and finish that job well. I am trying to finish the job that I have on the ground. I am an elected governor of Ekiti State.”

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, who is another suspected presidential hopeful, was on the same programme on February 1, 2022, where he refused to confirm his presidential ambition in 2023, saying there was still time to do so.
