Abductors of six family members of a monarch in Taraba State have demanded N120million to free the captives.

District Head of Zip , Alhaji Uba, said that he can’t afford to pay the N120million ransom demanded by the abductors of his son and six others.

SaharaReporters had reported on February 19, 2022 that eight persons were abducted by gunmen at Illela Village in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The gunmen numbering over 15 were said to have invaded the village about 4:00pm on Thursday.

The monarch said the kidnappers are demanding N30million ransom

for each of the seven persons abducted.

He said he pleaded with the kidnappers during a series of negotiations but they insisted that N30million must be paid for each of the seven persons they abducted.

He revealed that leader of the kidnappers abused him several times when he was negotiating for the release of his son and six others who were all his subjects.

He said, “The ring leader abused me several times when l told him that we can’t afford to pay what he was demanding and even threatened to come to my palace and kidnap me.

“My self, family members and my subjects are in total fear of the unknown because of the presence of bandits that move freely with their weapons in the forest that surrounds our area.”

Spokesperson for the Taraba State Police Command, DSP Usman Abdullahi, confirmed the abduction of 11 persons in the area.
