Cindy Parlow Cone has been reelected as U.S. Soccer Federation president on Saturday, defeating a challenge by predecessor Carlos Cordeiro.
Cone now remains president for a four-year term, having taken over the post from Cordeiro in March 2020. Cordeiro had resigned amid backlash over his handling of the USSF’s legal response during the U.S. women’s team’s equal pay lawsuit.
On the eve of Saturday’s election, Cone had received the endorsements of 32 players on the United States women’s national team, saying Cone “deeply understands the work that needs to be done to continue to create equality.”
The election was held at the USSF’s General Meeting National Council Meeting in Atlanta, with eligible voters also casting virtual ballots.
