A yet-to-be-identified suspected bag snatcher was beaten into a coma by an angry mob on Oruntan Street, behind the Mother and Child Hospital in the Oke Aro area of Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The incident reportedly occurred around 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 when the suspect allegedly attempted to snatch a bag from a resident.
According to eyewitnesses, the victim raised an alarm, which attracted the attention of nearby residents.
In response, community members quickly mobilised and descended on the suspect, beating him severely until he lost consciousness.
The suspect is still lying on the ground, still breathing, as at the time of filing this report,
It was also gathered that the residents had contacted security operatives.
