Zack Snyder Was Back At Warner Bros. This Week, And You Know His Fans Are All Saying The Same Thing

I think Zack Snyder knows exactly what happens when he posts anything remotely connected to DC. Give his fans a black-and-white image of Superman, a photo of Ben Affleck or the faintest whiff of unfinished Justice League business, and the SnyderVerse conversation immediately returns. This week, the director did something even more dangerous when he visited Warner Bros. Of course, all his fans are now saying the same thing. I’ll give you a hint: it rhymes with “re-score the gloomyverse.”

Snyder shared a selfie on Instagram from the studio lot Wednesday, posing in front of the familiar Warner Bros. water tower. He did not offer much context, writing only, “Hanging out with a bunch of amazing people today down at the WB.” That was more than enough to get his followers asking whether he was discussing a new DC film project. Check out the image below.

How did fans of the Man of Steel filmmaker react to the selfie? With calm and candor, of course. Just kidding. Let’s break it down.

SnyderVerse Fans Obviously Had Thoughts About This Photo

The comments section on Snyder’s post quickly filled with variations of the same question. Some fans wanted to know whether Snyder’s visit had anything to do with DC. Plenty of others skipped the speculation and went straight back to calling for Warner Bros. to restore his unfinished superhero universe. Several of those comments picked up thousands of likes.

Here are some of the very passionate reactions:

  • @manureyesperiodista: “RESTORE THE SNYDERVERSE❤️🔥”
  • @haydendbarton: “The call had to be made 🦇”
  • @gunnverse: “Hey Zack! Is it dc related? 👀”
  • @ranibarbierebarbearia “Dont give me hope!🙏🏾💪🏾🙌🏾”
  • @matteothebest: “HOPEEEEEEEEE🙌👏❤️”
  • @ratnogrillo: “Please sir, some good news about Snyderverse… 👍”
  • @khanabadosh.ladka: “Apologies from WB accepted. Now restore the #snyderverse”
  • @mastacr: “Let’s go boss #restorethesnyderverse 💪”
  • @bojackt900: “HERE WE GOOOO 🔥🔥🔥 #RESTORETHESNYDERVERSE”
  • @sainttrai: “You could not live with your own failure. And where did that bring you? Back to me.”

A few skeptical replies were mixed in, but the overall response was unmistakably positive for the moviemaker. One photo of Snyder standing near the Warner Bros. water tower was enough to bring the entire “Restore the SnyderVerse” campaign roaring back to life. But how likely is a resurrection of his cinematic world?

How Likely Is a SnyderVerse Return?

A live-action continuation of Snyder’s now-defunct DC universe still feels like a very long shot. For the better part of four years, DC Studios has been building a new connected franchise under James Gunn and Peter Safran. We’ve already had a new Superman, the unfortunate 2026 movie calendar misfire that was Supergirl, and plans for Batman and a much larger continuity are taking shape. Gunn and Safran have also made it clear that these projects are meant to fit within one shared story, though separate “Elseworlds” movies can still exist outside the main slate of releases.

That does not leave much room for Snyder to stroll back in and finish his original five-film arc exactly as planned. His version ended with several major threads still hanging, including Darkseid’s invasion, the Knightmare timeline and Batman’s eventual sacrifice. There may be unfinished business, but the DC train left that particular station years ago.

The Watchmen director has not completely shut the door, though. Earlier this year, he said there had been conversations about continuing the story through a comic or animated project. He did not announce anything, but he acknowledged that another format could give him the chance to finish what the live-action movies left behind. That is probably the most realistic route. An animated continuation would let him revisit those plans without bulldozing the groundwork Gunn’s Chapter One has already laid.

For now, all we actually have is a selfie and a caption vague enough to power several weeks of fan theories. Until someone says otherwise, the SnyderVerse remains where it has been for years: unfinished, but streaming with an HBO Max subscription.
