CHICAGO — Bears quarterback Caleb Williams exited Sunday’s 9-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings with a right hamstring injury midway through the fourth quarter.
After running back Kyle Monangai converted a fourth down inside the red zone, Williams took off and ran to his left with a clear path to the end zone. His right leg appeared to give way as he was running, and he fell awkwardly to the ground.
The quarterback tried twice to get himself to his feet but could not stand without the assistance of trainers. Williams was helped to the injury tent, where he stayed for several minutes before being carted back to the locker room.
Williams sat on the cart with a towel over his head and was visibly in pain when he uncovered his face. He raised his right fist in the air and gave the crowd at Soldier Field a thumbs up before disappearing into the tunnel.
Tyson Bagent replaced Williams at quarterback. The Bears failed to score a touchdown despite running two plays inside Minnesota’s 6-yard line. Cairo Santos’ 23-yard field goal attempt was then blocked.
The entirety of Sunday’s game was played under a steady downpour.
