President Muhammadu Buhari has increased years of service for public school teachers in the country from 35 to 40 years.
He also approved a new salary scale for teachers in commemoration of World Teachers Day.
Buhari made the announcement in Abuja on Monday.
Adamu Adamu, Minister of Education, who represented Buhari, said the changes were targeted at encouraging teachers to provide better service delivery to students.
