UPDATE: Ellen DeGeneres is sharing what led to wife Portia de Rossi‘s hospitalization over the weekend.
“Anybody else have to rush their wife to the emergency room for an appendectomy? Anybody? No? Just me? OK,” the host said in a clip from the March 23 episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. She went on to explain that on Friday, March 19, Portia told her she wasn’t feeling well and so they decided to go to bed around 8 p.m. While Ellen was getting ready to sleep, she heard a noise and got up to find Portia “on all fours” on the floor.
That’s when Ellen rushed Portia to the ER, where she got a CT scan and was later told she needed to be admitted to the hospital. While Ellen was sent home due to coronavirus restrictions, she received a call the next morning informing her that Portia’s appendix had to be removed.
After a successful surgery, Ellen shared, “I’m happy to report Portia’s feeling much better now.”

Portia de Rossi is on the road to recovery.
Over the weekend, the actress faced a health scare when she was briefly hospitalized at an undisclosed location.
According to a source, Portia is recovering after undergoing surgery on March 19 to deal with appendicitis. The insider added that Portia is now at home and doing well.
Appendicitis is a common condition in which the lining of the appendix is blocked and becomes inflamed. According to the Mayo Clinic, the condition can cause intense pain that sometimes leads to the surgical removal of the appendix.
According to People, who first broke the news, Ellen DeGeneres was the one who rushed Portia to the hospital and is helping take care of her this week.
Portia’s health scare comes just three months after Ellen revealed on Instagram that she tested positive for the coronavirus. On Dec. 10, the talk-show host explained how COVID-19 personally affected her health.
