
Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, the recently appointed sole administrator of Rivers State, has just arrived at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja to meet with President Bola Tinubu.
This meeting follows the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State and the suspension of Governor Sim Fubara and other key government officials.
The former Naval Chief was appointed yesterday by the president who declared emergency rule in Rivers State on Tuesday.
President Tinubu had in a nationwide broadcast on Tuesday, declared the emergency, citing political tension and troubling security reports in the state.
Tinubu stated that recent security briefings revealed troubling acts of oil pipeline vandalism by militants, with no effort from the governor to address the situation.
