On Wednesday night, the US Senate voted to discharge and acquit Trump over the charges of obstruction of congress and abuse of power leveled against him by the House of Reps.
A five month investigation and subsequent trial by congress into whether Trump committed impeachable offenses by withholding military aid to Ukraine in exchange for investigations into his political rival Joe Biden, ended in failure for Democrats as the Republican majority senate with the exception of Mitt Romney voted against impeaching the president.
As usual with such a monumental and historic development, social media users have reacted, with some in favor of impeachment and suggested Trump was let off the hook while others believe that the trial was unfair and should have never come up.
