Twitter users have criticized Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for bragging about the 6km road he constructed in the state.
Governor Akeredolu shared a photo of the road he “built” while taunting Eyitayo Jegede, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party who ran against incumbent governor Akeredolu in the 2016 governorship election.
Akeredolu wrote: “Morning @TayoJegedeSAN. I hope you like the new road I built in your neighborhood totalling about 6km. It was neglected for over 20 years. Now You’ll have less vehicle issues when you start your campaign fully.”
He shared a photo of another road development work he completed and wrote: “A drop in the bucket in the quantum of road development work completed (120km) and ongoing (129km) in 3yrs with meager funds. We are proud of our achievements to date.”
Twitter users reacted by calling Akeredolu out for boasting about doing something that should be his job. Some said he had no right to boast about it unless he constructed the road with his personal money.
However, some Twitter users praised Akeredolu and stated that it is “healthy for political campaigns to be based on visible achievement.”
