The wrestling world mourns the death of Gaspard

The body of former WWE superstar Shad Gaspard was recovered Wednesday morning on Los Angeles’ Venice Beach. Gaspard and his 10-year-old son, Aryeh, went swimming Sunday and were pulled under by the strong currents. Aryeh was rescued.

Gaspard, best known as half of the WWE tag team Cryme Tyme, left the world of professional wrestling in 2010 and set his sights on writing, acting and, most importantly, his family. Gaspard told the lifeguard to save his son before trying to help him. When the lifeguard returned, he said, he saw Gaspard go under and never resurface.

With news of Gaspard’s disappearance and death, the wrestling world reacted to the loss of one of its own.
