#WhyIDidntReport trends on Twitter as rape survivors reveal why they kept quiet after being abused

Women and men who have been sexually abused or raped have gone on Twitter to explain why they didn’t report their abusers.

A higher majority of rape survivors stay silent and do not out their rapists. Those who speak up years later are usually asked why they are just coming out or why they kept quiet for so long.

Some of them are sharing their reasons on Twitter with the hashtag #WhyIDidntReport.

The tweets shared are so many that the hashtag is now trending on the microblogging platform.
