The NBA said Wednesday it has had no positive results for the coronavirus from any of the 343 players tested in the Orlando, Florida, bubble since the last update on July 29.
This was the third consecutive update in which the NBA said it had no positive tests on its campus, dating to when the league announced its initial batch of results from the bubble on July 13. The NBA said then that two of 322 players tested had come back positive, but that those players had left the bubble.
“In the event that a player on the NBA campus returns a confirmed positive test in the future, he will be isolated until he is cleared for leaving isolation under the rules established by the NBA and the Players Association,” Wednesday’s statement said.
Last week, a Sacramento Kings player had an inconclusive coronavirus test but ultimately was cleared for a game against the San Antonio Spurs.
Sources told ESPN that the player had to quarantine for two days after the inconclusive test — or “false positive” — last Wednesday, but successive negative results Thursday and Friday allowed for his availability against San Antonio.
