Rookie quarterback Justin Herbert will be the Los Angeles Chargers‘ starter going forward, coach Anthony Lynn announced Thursday.
The Chargers (1-3) picked Herbert sixth overall in this year’s draft. His next start will be his first on Monday Night Football, against the Saints in New Orleans.
“This is why we brought him here: to be our franchise quarterback,” Lynn said.
Quarterback Tyrod Taylor has missed the last three games after his lung was punctured by a team doctor while receiving a painkilling treatment.
Herbert has thrown five touchdowns and three interceptions in three games so far, all losses, completing 77 of 107 attempts for 931 yards.
