The Miami Dolphins will place leading rusher Myles Gaskin on injured reserve with a knee injury, meaning the second-year running back will miss at least three games.
Head coach Brian Flores announced the Dolphins will make the roster move Thursday.
Flores mentioned Jordan Howard, Patrick Laird and Salvon Ahmed as possible replacements for Gaskin when the Dolphins take on the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
Miami also has Matt Breida at running back, but he has been dealing with a hamstring injury. Flores did not rule Breida out against Arizona but noted that “hamstrings are tough.”
The Dolphins traded for DeAndre Washington from the Chiefs on Tuesday but he won’t be cleared from COVID protocols for this week.
Gaskin has rushed for 387 yards and two touchdowns this season.
