Denver Nuggets guard Monte Morris has agreed to a three-year, $27 million contract extension, his agent, Ron Shade of Octagon, told ESPN on Monday night.
Morris, who could’ve become an unrestricted free agent next summer, is yet another draft and development success story of Denver president of basketball operations Tim Connelly’s and coach Michael Malone’s program.
Morris, 25, averaged 9.6 points and 3.5 assists over 155 games in the past two seasons with the Nuggets, including excellent play in 21 minutes per game for Denver in its run to the Western Conference finals this past postseason.
The 51st overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft out of Iowa State, Morris has developed into a key part of the Nuggets’ guard rotation that includes Jamal Murray, Gary Harris and Will Barton.
Morris was a four-year college player out of Iowa State who spent most of his first NBA season in the G League.
