Sources: Bulls’ LaVine dealing with thumb injury

Chicago Bulls All-Star Zach LaVine underwent an MRI on Tuesday, which revealed a left thumb injury that he plans to play through, sources told ESPN.

The injury is in his non-shooting hand and had been bothering him entering the Bulls 111-108 victory against the Toronto Raptors on Monday night.

The team decided to get his thumb checked out after the game, but the injury is not expected to get worse if LaVine continues to play.

So far, the injury doesn’t appear to have affected LaVine’s performance. He still leads the Bulls, off to their first 4-0 start since the 1996-1997 season, in scoring, averaging 25.5 points per game while shooting 50% from the field and 44% from 3.

The Bulls host the New York Knicks on Thursday night at the United Center.

LaVine’s injury was first reported by The Athletic.
