Day of the Dead parade returns to Mexico City after Covid

Thousands of people have gathered in Mexico City to celebrate the annual Day of the Dead.

Celebrations for Día de Muertos usually take place around 2 November and it is a time when Mexican families honour deceased loved ones in the belief their souls return to earth to be with them.

The parade in Mexico City is a more recent addition to the festivities and was inspired by the 2015 James Bond film Spectre.
