The Milwaukee Bucks won’t be guaranteeing center DeMarcus Cousins’ contract for remainder of season ahead of the Friday deadline and will waive him, general manager Jon Horst told ESPN on Wednesday night.
Cousins, 31, played in 17 games this season for Milwaukee, starting five of them. The veteran had averaged 8.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 16.7 minutes per game leading into Wednesday night.
Milwaukee was Cousins’ sixth stop in the NBA, after being a first-round pick out of Kentucky in 2010. Since 2019 alone, he’s played for the Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers before settling in with the Bucks.
The Bucks lost to the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night, 117-111, falling to 25-15 on the season. Cousins had 15 points and 10 rebounds in 20 minutes of action.
