Nigerian Military Bombs Boko Haram, ISWAP Camps Discovered In Borno’s Lake Chad Region

The Nigerian military has killed many fighters of the Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), formerly known as Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād with airstrikes from A-29 Super Tucano along the fringes of Lake Chad in Borno State.
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) component of Operation Hadin Kai launched a series of attacks on Wednesday and Thursday at ISWAP camps at Marte Local Government Area of the state.

The operation was conducted after Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, revealed the location of the terror kingpin.
The ground assessment from the spots of the air interdiction indicated that scores of the terrorists were killed in the process.
Since the death of JAS leader, Abubakar Shekau, ISWAP has been consolidating its grip in locations around Lake Chad.
In 2021, it appointed Wali Sani Shuwaram, a 45-year-old as the new Leader (Wali) of ISWAP in Lake Chad.
The sect’s membership has swollen with the defection of hundreds of Boko Haram fighters under Shekau.
The terror group has caused over 100,000 deaths and displaced millions of individuals mainly in Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe states.
