A Non-Governmental Organization, Brave Heart Initiative has secured a court victory against a man who raped an 8-year-old girl in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State. The NGO, in a statement on Sunday, February 12, 2023, said the convict, Frederick Agbozuadu was found guilty and sentenced to five years imprisonment by the Magistrate Court sitting in Igarra, without option of fine for child defilement. The verdict was delivered on Thursday, February 9, 2023. One of our key highlights during our Annual Staff Training this past week was securing a judgement in one of the cases we facilitated with funding support from Open Society-Africa and MacArthur Foundation, “the statement read. “Frederick Agbozuadu was found guilty and sentenced to five years imprisonment by the Magistrate Court, Igarra without option of fine for the defilement of an 8-year-old girl from Ebigere Community, Akoko-Edo LGA, Edo State.”We welcome this judgement and we anticipate more convictions against perpetrators this year,”
