Gospel Singer Nathaniel Bassey to Lead Worship at U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s Inaugural Prayer Breakfast

Renowned Nigerian gospel singer and pastor Nathaniel Bassey has been invited to lead worship at the Presidential Inaugural Prayer Breakfast for U.S. President-elect Donald Trump in Washington, D.C.

Bassey shared the news on his Instagram page, writing, “Let’s raise a sound in America. See you on January 20, 2025.”

According to reports, the U.S. Presidential Inaugural Prayer Breakfast is a non-partisan, faith-based event held every four years before the official swearing-in of a new administration. Its primary focus is to provide spiritual support for the incoming government through prayers and worship.

This year’s gathering will be hosted by Reverend Merrie Turner at the prestigious Waldorf Astoria Presidential Ballroom. The event will feature notable speakers, including Dr. Alveda King and Pastor Mario Bramnick, as part of the lead-up to the inauguration of Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance.

Nathaniel Bassey, famed for his soul-stirring worship songs and as the initiator of the globally acclaimed Hallelujah Challenge, is celebrated for popular hits like “Imela,” “Onise Iyanu,” and “Olowogbogboro.” His music blends diverse styles, from traditional hymns to jazz-infused melodies, earning him international acclaim as one of Nigeria’s leading gospel ministers.

In recognition of his impactful ministry, Bassey was honored in 2024 when the Mayor of Albany, New York, proclaimed October 6 as “Pastor Nathaniel Bassey Day.”
